Read our blog to obtain updates.<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-414-1\" data-target=\"#eda9cafc00a7b7df0\" href=\"#eda9cafc00a7b7df0\"><div class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\"><\/i><\/div><div class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">Who is eligible to obtain a Customs Broker License?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"eda9cafc00a7b7df0\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content\">\n<ul>In order to obtain a broker&#8217;s license, an individual must:<\/p>\n<li>Be a citizen of the United States on the date of submission of the license application and not an officer or employee of the United States Government.<\/li>\n<li>Attain the age of 21 prior to the date of submission of the license application;<\/li>\n<li>Be of good moral character; and<\/li>\n<li>Hold a passing score on the broker&#8217;s exam of 75% or higher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-414-1\" data-target=\"#19cab93174ad00db3\" href=\"#19cab93174ad00db3\"><div class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\"><\/i><\/div><div class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">What is the application fee to take this exam and how is it to be paid?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"19cab93174ad00db3\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content\">Payment of the required $390 license examination fee must be made online via the examination application, and must be made by credit card, by debit card that can be used as a credit card, or by PayPal.<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-414-1\" data-target=\"#8929414050c4b6a31\" href=\"#8929414050c4b6a31\"><div class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\"><\/i><\/div><div class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">What is the purpose of the exam and what does it test?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"8929414050c4b6a31\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content\">\n<p>According to the CBP, the purpose of the broker license examination is to \u201cdetermine the individual\u2019s knowledge of Customs and related laws, regulations and procedures, bookkeeping, accounting, and all other appropriate matters, necessary to render valuable service to importers and exporters.\u201d (19 CFR 111.13(a)).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exam topics typically include: Entry; Classification; Trade Agreements; Valuation; Broker Compliance; Power of Attorney; Marking; Drawback; Bonds; Foreign Trade Zones\/Bonded Warehouse; Warehouse Entries; Intellectual Property Rights; Fines, Penalties and Forfeitures: and other subjects pertinent to a broker&#8217;s duties.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-414-1\" data-target=\"#60f5e46956992e387\" href=\"#60f5e46956992e387\"><div class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\"><\/i><\/div><div class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">How is the exam administered?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"60f5e46956992e387\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content\">The exam is currently administered online at test centers designated by the CBP. The Customs Broker License Examination consists of 80 multiple-choice questions to be answered within 4.5 hours. A score of 75 percent is required to pass. The examination lasts 4.5 hours.<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-414-1\" data-target=\"#da378f1d9a22d3665\" href=\"#da378f1d9a22d3665\"><div class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\"><\/i><\/div><div class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">What reference material are required for the exam?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"da378f1d9a22d3665\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content\">\n<p>The reference materials that can be used for taking the exam are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States HTSUS.<\/li>\n<li>Title 19, Code of Federal Regulations (2016, Parts 0 to 199.)<\/li>\n<li>Instructions for Preparation of CBP Form 7501 (July 24, 2012)<\/li>\n<li>Right to Make Entry Directive 3530-002A<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-414-1\" data-target=\"#73dc0afe07f8d26b0\" href=\"#73dc0afe07f8d26b0\"><div class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\"><\/i><\/div><div class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">What reference material are allowed during the test?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"73dc0afe07f8d26b0\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content\">The exam is open book and the required reference material and any other pertinent reference materials are allowed during the examination. All reference material are to be brought in written or printed form and access to the internet or to digital files is not allowed. Applicants must provide their own reference materials and access to any electronic devices is prohibited.<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-414-1\" data-target=\"#257367be2755dbb28\" href=\"#257367be2755dbb28\"><div class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\"><\/i><\/div><div class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">Is there an appeal process if I do not score enough to pass the exam?<\/div><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"257367be2755dbb28\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content\">Yes, there is a process of appeal to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
