{"id":5040,"date":"2018-03-06T14:55:01","date_gmt":"2018-03-06T14:55:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.customsbrokerexamprep.com\/?p=5040"},"modified":"2018-07-09T13:38:26","modified_gmt":"2018-07-09T13:38:26","slug":"what-to-study-for-the-customs-broker-exam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.customsbrokerexamprep.com\/demodbsetup\/what-to-study-for-the-customs-broker-exam\/","title":{"rendered":"What to study for the Customs Broker Exam?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to CBP, exam topics typically include: Entry; Classification; Trade Agreements; Valuation; Broker Compliance; Power of Attorney; Marking; Drawback; Bonds; Foreign Trade Zones; Warehouse Entries; Intellectual Property Rights; and other subjects pertinent to a broker&#8217;s duties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Further, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.customsbrokerexamprep.com\/instructions\/\">Customs Broker License Examination<\/a> is a four and half hour long, open book test, consisting of 80 multiple-choice questions based on designated editions of:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Title 19, Code of Federal Regulations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Specified Customs Directives<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements document (CATAIR)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have reviewed all the questions set in the past 20 exams over the last 10 years (from April 2008 to April 2017) and identified the 16 tested topics with relative percentage of questions asked from each topic. This information is arranged in descending order of importance in the table below:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-5042 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.customsbrokerexamprep.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/customs-broker-exam.png\" alt=\"customs broker exam\" width=\"238\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.customsbrokerexamprep.com\/demodbsetup\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/customs-broker-exam-120x203.png 120w, https:\/\/www.customsbrokerexamprep.com\/demodbsetup\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/customs-broker-exam-178x300.png 178w, https:\/\/www.customsbrokerexamprep.com\/demodbsetup\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/customs-broker-exam-200x338.png 200w, https:\/\/www.customsbrokerexamprep.com\/demodbsetup\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/customs-broker-exam.png 238w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 238px) 100vw, 238px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The statistics clearly show that Classification and Entry were the most heavily tested topics comprising nearly half the questions set in the test. Trade Agreements, Broker Compliance and Valuation topics were the second set of important topics. FTZ &amp; Warehousing, Practical Exercises, Fines and Penalties were ranked third in terms of importance. Marking, Bonds and Drawback was the fourth set followed by ADD\/CVD, IPR and POA forming the fifth set. Finally, Record keeping and Quotas were the last two minor topics. These 16 topics accounted for 99% of the questions set in the exam. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We also looked at the trends in terms of variation in percentages of questions from tested areas over the period from April 2008 to April 2017 and determined that the question pattern had undergone some changes as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p
